Swandivedigital Launches The Definition of Insanity Film Website
New York, NY, October 20, 2002 — Swandivedigital, a design and communications agency, has added to its growing entertainment-related portfolio with the launch of a website for the award-winning independent film The Definition of Insanity (www.definitionofinsanity.com) by New York City filmmakers Robert Margolis and Frank Matter.
The website, featuring film and music clips, a photo gallery, filmmaker profiles and an interactive blog, was designed and fully produced in under 3 weeks, just in time to support the film's well-received U.S. premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival in Woodstock, NY on October 16, 2004.
To allow for the frequent updates that will be required to promote the film, swandivedigital integrated components of the site with Six Apart's Movable Type, a personal publishing system that allows even non-technically proficient Internet users to quickly and easily update websites through a standard web-browser interface.
"The distressed, off-beat look and feel of the site really echoes the subject matter of our film," commented Margolis of the website for the faux documentary, a sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking character study of an on-the-edge actor "Toss in that even I can update the site and you're talking about a pretty perfect match for us between form and content."
About The Definition of Insanity
The Definition of Insanity is a tragi-comic film about big dreams and everyday rituals, humiliating defeats and little triumphs, and the inexplicable optimism -- some might call it delusion -- that keeps us going. Blurring the line between fiction and reality, the directors combine their fictional story with some real documentary footage, a mix that gives the material freshness, immediacy and an unsettling authenticity. The Definition of Insanity was shot on location throughout New York City over the course of 18 months. Working from a simple storyline, the directors developed the individual scenes together with the actors who in real life face many of the same questions as their characters in the movie.
Fresh off its European premiere, The Definition of Insanity has been described as "... an independent production with a fascinatingly original voice... ironic, unpretentious filmmaking that gets under the skin."
